Glands in your Neck
There are three main glands in your neck, the thymus, the thyroid and the paratyroid. The thyroid is one of the most important glands in your body.
Thyroid Gland: The thyrid gland is a small butterfly-shaped gland in your neck. It is located just below your larynx and just above your trachea. This gland controls your body's metabolism.
Parathyroid Gland: The parathyroid is composed of four small dot-like glands behind the thyroid. These glands control the calcium and phosphorus levels in your blood.
Thymus Gland: The thymus is another gland located in your next just below your throid, at the top of the rib cage. This gland controls your immune system and recognizes invading bacteria.
